CompLadder Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 14, 2026 Updated: September 14, 2026 Support: offers@compladder.app

1. Product scope and data posture

CompLadder helps you compare job offers on a decision ladder. Core ranking, true annual value, commute cost, and What-If re-ranking are calculated on your device.

Optional cloud features use DeepSeek, a third-party AI service, to extract pay fields from offer letters/screenshots and to generate tradeoff, duel-gap, and negotiation insights. Those optional features send limited data to DeepSeek only after you give explicit permission in the app. CompLadder does not track you for advertising and does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework.

2. Information you create

You may add or import offer materials such as offer-letter images or screenshots, pay and compensation fields, commute inputs, What-If adjustments, negotiation notes, and voice tradeoff transcripts. These records are stored on your device for ranking and comparison.

3. Device permissions and media

CompLadder may use access you grant to:

  • Camera — photograph offer letters for preview and optional DeepSeek extraction
  • Photos — import screenshots; save decision brief images when you tap Save to Library
  • Microphone — dictate salary numbers and record tradeoffs
  • Speech recognition — convert speech to text on device before any optional cloud analysis

You can deny a permission and continue using features that do not need it.

4. Purchases and Apple services

CompLadder does not currently sell in-app digital goods. If purchases are added later, Apple StoreKit would process payment under Apple’s terms.

5. Optional DeepSeek AI (third-party)

When you allow DeepSeek cloud analysis, CompLadder sends data to DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com) for the feature you requested. DeepSeek is operated by DeepSeek; see their policy: https://cdn.deepseek.com/policies/en-US/deepseek-privacy-policy.html

What may be sent

Depending on the feature you start:

  • The offer photo or screenshot you chose for extraction
  • Your edited transcript from voice dictation
  • One or two offer summaries: company, role, base salary, bonus, equity, signing bonus, commute assumptions, and related note snippets

What is not sent

  • Your full photo library
  • Contacts
  • Precise location
  • Raw audio recordings

Permission and control

  • CompLadder asks for permission in a dedicated consent screen before the first cloud AI request.
  • You can also review and change this in Desk → DeepSeek cloud analysis.
  • Turning the toggle off withdraws permission for further DeepSeek requests.
  • Ranking and What-If continue to work on-device without DeepSeek.

6. Tracking, analytics, and advertising

CompLadder does not use advertising identifiers for tracking, does not show ads in the app, and does not integrate third-party attribution or analytics SDKs for cross-app tracking.

7. Network access and third parties

Network access is used when you request optional DeepSeek analysis or when you open linked privacy pages. Core ladder calculations described above remain on-device.

8. Retention, deletion, and security

Offer records and related local data remain on your device until you delete them or remove the App. Deleting the App removes on-device records stored by CompLadder. Data already sent to DeepSeek is handled under DeepSeek’s privacy policy and retention practices.

9. Career and compensation boundary

CompLadder is a decision-support tool for comparing offers. It is not employment, tax, immigration, or financial advice and does not guarantee negotiation outcomes.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; the effective and updated dates above will change when we do.
